Deciding on a 3D printer is like it or not often related to cost; as is everything else. Not to forget ease of installation and use. What one tends to forget is what happens when that machine that was cheap and easy to use breaks down. Warranty aside, would you delve into the inner workings of the machine? This is where the strength of the RepRap machines are. An initial fear of buying an unassembled machine soon becomes a “What can we modify?” or a “Which one should we build next?”. It is easy to forget that the current torrent of desktop 3D printers were typically born from RepRap projects.
